Our lovely new Test Kitchen is a flexible, multi-purpose space that sits at the heart of the Good Food brand. It allows us to create new recipes, make videos, try products and gadgets and test, test, test our recipes – all in one place. It’s a fantastic collaborative space. We worked with award-winning interior architects Lorenc to design five work stations – one of which is on wheels – and a separate multi-purpose kitchen studio equipped for video and photography. There’s a huge table for our content, social and video teams, colleagues, guests, partners and clients to meet and work at right in the heart of our kitchen.

Planet

Being planet-friendlier is at the core of Good Food, and we’ve thought hard about how this space can encourage sustainable working practices. Each work station has a set of recycling bins, and we send all our waste, including food, to be recycled.

Food waste

Our new freezers and walk-in fridge allow a new degree of stock control – leftovers from recipe development or product testing are reused in recipes, such as our leftovers social media series on Instagram. And, of course, we eat a lot of it, too!

Recycled plastic

The splashbacks and work surfaces are made of recycled plastic from Smile Plastics – they started life as kitchen fixtures, which seems fitting, and make a beautiful background for photographs and videos.

Cabinetry

Bespoke doors and cabinetry are provided by Husk, a company that is serious about sustainability and making bespoke kitchens affordable. Based in Bristol, its workshop is powered by solar energy, and because doors are made to order, there is little waste. Wood is FSC-certified and laminates are carbon-neutral. We’ve taken advantage of this to add pops of colour that colour-code different areas of the kitchen.

Appliances

Beko supplied all of our kitchen appliances, including microwaves and dishwashers. We use induction cooktops because they are planet friendly (gas is not) and chose a RecycledTub washer-dryer that is partially made of recycled plastic bottles. Our freestanding fridge-freezer uses HarvestFresh technology to keep fruit and veg fresher for longer, reducing waste. Our ovens were chosen to mirror domestic kitchens and all of our recipes are tested using domestic appliances, so we can be assured they will work for you at home.

Small appliances

The small appliances we use, including air fryers, slow cookers and blenders, are from our own Good Food range, in partnership with Tower.
